The Indovac vaccine has been developed by Indonesia’s state-owned pharmaceutical company Bio Farma and the Texas Children’s Hospital Center for Vaccine Development at Baylor College of Medicine

Bio Farma announced that it would produce 100 million doses of the vaccine by 2024 after producing 20 million doses in 2022. It has also stated that it has asked the appropriate authorities for a halal certificate, which would make the vaccine acceptable under Islamic law.

Bio Farma has also sought an emergency use approval from the World Health Organization (WHO)
